Street activities for better working conditions at Lidl suppliers

On 7 October, the World day for decent work, street activities have been organised in 4 mayor cities in Austria (Vienna, Linz, Graz and Innsbruck). The purpose of these activities was to raise public awareness on the problematic working conditions in supplying companies that produce for the discount market Lidl. In order to put pressure on Lidl managers, activists were collecting signatures on postcards with the slogan “Ein Einkauf bei LIDL kann so ziemlich alles sein. Ausser fair!” (Shopping at LIDL can be anything but fair!). At the end of the year all the signed postcards that claim living wages for workers and minimum social standards will be handed over to Lidl.

Vienna – protest against unfair working conditions in front of a Lidl shop
Graz – protest march for the right to fair working conditions
Linz – commemoration of Asian seamstresses in front of the unfair-stand
Innsbruck – a working day of a seamstress
